About us
These days there is no way to learn record making from working professional since there are seldom few assisting positions left. In the past an aspiring engineer or producer could watch and learn from someone more advanced for a few years and prepare for flying solo without burning their wings too early. That old mentor/disciple system is pretty much gone, and it’s a shame. We know, we make records for a living, mostly good ones too, and we had to figure out how to do it on our own. And that sucked. (It’s very lonely at the helm sometimes, isn’t it?)
In the Fall of 2010, Guillaume Chadaillac convinced Fab to take a break from his producing and mixing schedule to start pureMix Online. pureMix Online is a place to share the knowledge we, as successful professionals, acquired over time. Virtual studio assistantship? Maybe, but without the bathroom cleaning stage. Mostly we thought about all the questions we got stuck on over the years honing our skills, and came up with targeted answers to those questions and answers to the questions that the answers raised. We thought of a way to organize that knowledge in a format that would deliver lots of information in a short amount of time with minimal waste.
pureMix Online content is produced in professional studios with the highest attention to details and relentless curiosity and care for all things music and sound.

Ben

Ben is a NYC based producer/engineer who has worked with a wide range of artists, from MGMT to Soulja Boy, Bebel Giberto to Lloyd Banks, Ryan Leslie, Olivia, Tony Yayo, Red Cafe, Edie Brickell, Carole Pope and hundreds of other artists. He grew up in the Midwest and went to school at the University of Miami. In addition to being a fantastic musician he is also a tremendous geek when it comes to anything technical, be it software, plug-ins, microphones, outboard gear. It's his marriage of musical creativity and technical know-how that makes him an in demand producer/engineer.

Guillaume

It turns out that even though Guillaume (gee-YOAM) spent most of his young life in prestigious European business schools he also happens to be a great musician with an insatiable curiosity in all things sound. Incidentally Guillaume landed on Fab’s New York doorstep as a neighbor complaining about noise issues, which turned into an internship which turned into the much delayed realization that Fab was the same guy he’d been watching on YouTube to learn about mixing records. This kind of serendipity cannot be left unpunished. Can it? So Guillaume quit his phenomenal job in Asset_Based_Structured_In_Offshore_And_Transportation_Industries_In_Americas to start pureMix with Fab. Et voila. (For real)
