FAQ
Can I download the pureMix.net videos?
Nope. Sorry. This is a streaming only site. Think of pureMix.net as Hulu for the music community.
Come see us when you need to learn something. Popcorn optional.
The download button next to certain videos lets you access the associated example audio files and sessions so that you can practice at home.
How long can I watch my videos?
When you purchase a video, you can watch it as many times as you want for 30 days. After that it turns back into a pumpkin.
You can also download the associated zip file as many times as you want during those 30 days. It contains the audio examples and session files used in the video so that you can practice at home, on your own system.

Can I buy a subscription?
Not yet. We are aware that some people would like to buy a subscription and have access to all the videos on the web site. We are working on it.
I have registered but I can’t Login!
Oh no, pureMix withdrawal! Our hunch is that you did not notice the confirmation email we sent you. No really, we sent it to you. We don’t really understand why but certain email boxes qualify pureMix emails as spam... probably because of the bad jokes. Check your spam folder.

Why is the volume of pureMix.net lower than YouTube/Vimeo/Other sites?
Ah! Great question. Because Youtube sounds pretty horrible. And so does Viméo.
Think about it this way: If we play you an example of a bass drum recorded in different positions, do you want to hear exactly what we hear and be able to understand the subtle differences between the positions, or do you want us to compress and limit the hell out of everything so you don’t have to touch your volume knob (But hear nothing real)?
That’s the tradeoff, either we allow you to hear what we hear, or we enter the loudness war.
We chose quality: pureMix.net is actually calibrated at -18dBFs average across the board. AND, we are encoding our videos so that audio ALWAYS has priority over video and the sound quality never suffers in low bandwidth situation. We care about sound.

Which Internet browser should I use?
Thanks to the almighty Google and Apple (who can’t get along and decide which video format to support in html5), pureMix.net videos will be played either in native html5 or flash depending on the browser you chose.
We like Firefox because it works and they have no hidden agenda. However, Firefox will use Flash and you will not be able to skip ahead in the timeline if the portion of the video has not been loaded yet.
Safari and Chrome use html5 so you can click wherever you want in the timeline and get there without waiting... worth to think about if your are watching a long one and want to skip the first 30 minutes...(That's what she said)
pureMix.net also supports iPhone and iPad built in browsers and video players.
(We can’t vouch for the quality of the audio D->A converters on those wonderful little boxes though)
Needless to say that your browser will work better if it is up to date.
Audio is equally as good in html5 and flash.

Can I try it at home?
That’s the point. Although I’m sure it’s more fun to learn cool stuff on pureMix.net than to do the job your employer is paying you for (You can’t fool us), the whole point is to set yourself up in your studio (a table with a laptop and midi keyboard qualifies as studio) and watch/listen to the pureMix.net videos there, on the same system that you are used to make music with.
Make sure that your web browser’s audio outputs point to the same outputs as your DAW’s audio outputs and enjoy the capability to try examples right away, as soon as you see them in the video, in a familiar environment.
You could download a mix example and do your own mix, and then compare your mix, instrument by instrument, with the tips and tricks in the video. Or you could recreate the exact same mix as the video once, step by step and then expand from there and try your own version. If you are viewing the videos on the same computer it’s easy to go back and forth to get perspective when you need it.

I’m a school and I would like my students to have access to pureMix.
Glad to hear that!
pureMix.net is a great complement and course enhancement for schools with a complete curriculum. While there is no replacement for a talented teacher and one on one tutoring, we know it's nice to have prepared courses likes ours to support a specific point, save time on example creations and have access to musical talent that may not be available in all areas.

Can I ask pureMix to make a specific video?
Yes you can! We will make the content the people ask for.
There is a small box at the bottom right of the home page that says: We take requests.
This for you to ask us what you would like to see next.
